Leadership offsites are a vital part of the Novature Leadership Program, as learning, connecting, and sharing insights are most effective when done face-to-face. On March 5-6, Novature’s executive leaders gathered in the picturesque town of Huizen for the third time.

After previously focusing on personal leadership and effectiveness, this year’s program shifted towards team dynamics. We believe that people thrive when they feel a sense of belonging, and when teams work well together, true magic happens. Our foundation is Lencioni’s model, which defines five key elements of strong teams: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results. This offsite focused specifically on Conflict & Commitment.

Using the principles of Deep Democracy, our leadership group explored constructive conflict—ensuring all voices were heard and leveraging minority perspectives to strengthen teamwork and decision-making. Through training sessions, leaders experienced the power of structured check-ins, which, while seemingly simple, proved to be a valuable tool for fostering openness and alignment.

In a hands-on AI leadership challenge, six groups collaborated to create a product or advice, practicing team formation, conflict resolution, and decision-making. By the end of the program, the group recognized that they had not only deepened their understanding of high-performing teams but had also grown in trust and openness towards one another, taking an important first step towards becoming a truly unified leadership team.
